The Pittsburgh Penguins definitely struggled against the Dallas Stars, trailing them for nearly the entire game. The most surprising thing about this game was, despite both teams accumulating a total of 66 Penalty Minutes, neither managed to put in a Power Play goal. Brent Johnson, who has been on fire so far this season, earned his first loss in Regular Time.

Just under four minutes into the game, Dallas started off the scoring, followed by a second goal only about four minutes later. Tyler Kennedy put Pittsburgh up on the board during the sixth minute of the second period, but the Stars answered right back about four minutes later. Only about a minute after that, the Stars were awarded a Penalty Shot, due to a hook on a breakaway, which they also managed to put into the back of the net.

With a 4-1 lead, there was still one more period left for the Penguins to catch up. Five minutes into the period, Dallas made it 5-1. Matt Cooke managed to give the Pens one more goal before the game ended, but it didn’t make a difference.

Johnson had his worse game of the season, thus far. He managed to make 24 saves, but gave up five goals. Hopefully, this was just a fluke game and he can rebound from it.

The Pens will take on the Anaheim Ducks this Friday, November 5, at 10:00 P.M. ET.

The Pittsburgh Penguins continue their Post-Olympic winning streak, now three points ahead of the New Jersey Devils. Pittsburgh trailed Dallas by two goals at one point in the game, but after giving up a third goal to the Stars, the Penguins really stepped it up. Sidney Crosby almost had a Hat Trick, with his second goal coming Short Handed. If the Penguins can keep up this streak through the final stretch of the Regular Season, they will be entering the playoffs with one of the top seeds.

Jordan Staal wasted very little time, putting the first goal in for Pittsburgh in the opening two minutes. About ten minutes later, Dallas came back and tied up the game. The score remained tied into the second period, but two minutes into the second period, the Stars took the lead. Less than a minute later, Dallas put in another goal. In the past, Marc Andre Fleury has been switched out after a situation like this, but Coach Bylsma decided to keep him in, which turned out to be a great decision.

Four minutes into the second period, Chris Kunitz put in his tenth goal of the season, and put the Penguins only one goal behind the Stars. Five minutes later, Pascal Dupuis had the tying goal for Pittsburgh, giving him his 15th of the season. With under four minutes left in the period, Crosby gave the Penguins the lead. A minute and a half into the third period, Crosby had a Short Handed goal, increasing the Penguins lead. Then, in the final minutes of the game, new acquired Alexei Ponikarovsky got his first goal as a Penguin.

Like mentioned before, Fleury really stepped it up in the second half of this game. Overall, Fleury made 27 saves, with 13 of those coming in the third period.

The Penguins take on the Boston Bruins Today, March 7, at 3:00 P.M. ET.
