With only one more week to go until the suspension on Ben Roethlisberger is lifted, the Pittsburgh Steelers will soon (after the completion of Week 3′s Monday Night Football) be one of only three teams who carry a 3-0 record. Despite relying on their third string Quarterback, Charlie Batch, the Steelers’ offense put on a much better performance than the previous two weeks. Hopes run high that the offense will only improve even more once Roethlisberger returns.
Rashard Mendenhall, Hines Ward, and Mike Wallace each had Touchdowns against the Bucs, along with a 79 Yard interception return by Brett Keisel, for a Touchdown. Batch threw for 186 Yards and three TDs, with only two interceptions. By halftime, Pittsburgh was already leading 28-6; the Steeler defense manged to hold off Tampa Bay to only a single Touchdown in the remaining half.
While the first two weeks of football were kind of bleak for Steeler Fans, with a low scoring, Overtime Win in Week one, and a game won by the Defense and Special Teams in Week 2, things are looking much more optimistic now. Pittsburgh has a big game in Week 4 as they take on Division Rivals, the Baltimore Ravens.
