Pirates to Commemorate Bill Mazeroski

This Year marks the 50th Anniversary of when Bill Mazeroski hit the Game 7, Walk-Off Home Run that Won the Pittsburgh Pirates the World Series against the New York Yankees. To Celebrate, the Pirates will be erecting a bronze statue of Mazeroski outside of PNC Park on Sunday, September 5.

Unfortunately, the Pirates are not in a position to recreate that momentous occasion, this season. Pittsburgh was able to walk away with that Championship two more times after this 1960 victory (1971, 1979), but have not been back to the World Series since that 1979 Win. Maybe this celebration of Pirates’ History can spark something for next season.
