Penguins Working Up to Another Eastern Conference Final

Tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins will play their Tenth game of the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and their Fourth game of the series against the Montreal Canadiens. Coming off their Shut Out on Tuesday, the Penguins are now a game up on the Canadiens, with one more to play in Montreal before returning to Pittsburgh. If the Pens can pull off this win tonight, they’ll be able to Clinch Round 2 back home.

Despite scoring zero points in his last two games, Sidney Crosby still leads the NHL Post Season with 16. Also, he is tied for first in Assists with Jonathan Toews. Last season, Crosby became the youngest Captain, in NHL history, to lead his team to a Stanley Cup victory. If he can do it again, he will continue to add to his, already stellar list of accomplishments.

Jordan Staal is making a speedy recovery, despite suffering a foot injury in Game 1 of this series against Montreal. Immediately receiving surgery to repair a torn tendon, Staal was back on the ice practicing within a few days. No official word on whether Staal will play in Game 4, but it seems pretty likely he’ll return sometime in Round 2.

At the moment, the Boston Bruins are one game out from sweeping the Philadelphia Flyers. That would make the Bruins the Penguins next opponent, in the Eastern Conference Finals. Luckily, Pittsburgh would still maintain home ice advantage.
