The Pittsburgh Pirates played their first game of Spring Training Wednesday afternoon, taking on last season’s World Series Champs, the New York Yankees. After giving up three runs in the bottom of the Sixth Inning, the Pirates trailed….but not for long. At the top of the Seventh Inning, they put up three runs of their own, tying the score up. Runs came in from Delwyn Young, Erik Kratz, and Jose Tabata. Unfortunately, at the bottom of the ninth, the Yankees hit a Three Run, walk off Homer.
On the Mound:
Steven Jackson had a tough inning, giving up three hits and all three of the Yankees Runs in the Sixth Inning, along with two Strike Outs. Jack Taschner and Jean Machi each had two strikes outs, while D.J. Carrasco and Ross Ohlendorf put up one, a piece. Virgil Vasquez gave up the final home run in the bottom of the ninth that ended up the game.
The Pirates will take on the Atlanta Braves Today, March 4, at 1:05 P.M. ET.
