Penguins Just Can’t Take the Wings

On Monday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins took a loss to the Detroit Red Wings, in Detroit; the good news is, this was one of the better teams left on the Penguins’ Schedule. Pittsburgh had 27 shots in the game, but could only put one of those shots in. The Penguins are still ahead in the Atlantic Division, but now New Jersey has two games in hand; hopefully, they put up a loss tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
It wasn’t until the 19th minute of the game when Detroit put their first goal in. Then, about seven and a half minutes into the second period, they made it a two goal lead. Pascal Dupuis’ unassisted goal managed to close the gap a little, late in the second period, but it didn’t do much good. The Penguins had eight shots in the final period, but the only goal that resulted was one for the Red Wings.
Marc Andre Fleury took his 19th loss of the season, but he still managed to make 30 saves against the Red Wings. His Save Percentage is currently at 90.6%.
It’d be nice to say that the Penguins get to go up against an easier team in their next game, but the Washington Capitals are next on their list. The Capitals have beat the Penguins in their two match ups this season, but Pittsburgh still has a chance to even out the record, starting with this game. The game will take place this Wednesday, March 24, at 7:00 P.M. ET.
NOTE: Last season, the Capitals beat the Penguins in three of their four match ups, but the Penguins defeated them in the Playoffs.
