It wasn’t a high scoring game on Sunday Afternoon, but the Pittsburgh Penguins pulled out the win against the Tampa Bay Lightning, in Regulation Time. Trailing by a goal going into the third period, the Penguins put two in, adding a 41st victory to their record. The Penguins still maintain a four point lead on the New Jersey Devils.
For nearly half a game, neither team was able to score. Then, in the eighth minute of the second period, Tampa Bay drew first blood, and stayed up by a goal for the rest of the period. Two minutes into the third period, Pascal Dupuis got his seventh goal of the season off an assist from Jordan Staal. Less than three minutes later, Sergei Gonchar put in the winning goal during a Power Play; Sidney Crosby received his 42nd assist from the play.
Marc Andre Fleury put up a solid performance in net, making 21 saves against the Lightning. Fleury’s record is now 32-17-4, with a Save Percentage of 90.7%.
The Penguins next game will be against the New Jersey Devils. The Devils took the win on Friday, but this time around, the Penguins should be ready. The game will take place on Wednesday, March 17, at 7:00 P.M. ET.
