The Pittsburgh Penguins have raised their record to 4-1 against the Philadelphia Flyers, this season, after defeating them in Philly, Sunday afternoon. The Flyers managed to put up the first goal of the game, but the Penguins came back with two more goals; the winning goal came just minutes before the game was about to head into Over Time. The Penguins are still only four points behind the New Jersey Devils in the Atlantic Division.
Only five minutes into the game, Philadelphia took an early lead, during a Power Play. With a little over five minutes left in the period, Sergei Gonchar tied the game up during a Penguins Power Play. Between the second and third period, a total of 35 shots were exchanged between the two teams, but the only other goal came from Matt Cooke in the final two minutes of the game. Cooke took advantage of another Power Play, saving the game from heading to Over Time.
Brent Johnson was a monster in the net, saving 27 shots and only allowing a single goal; Johnson has managed to raise his Save Percentage up to 91.3%. Marc Andre Fleury, who was expected to return for this game, should, hopefully, be returning for the Penguins’ next game.
The Penguins will take on the New York Rangers Tonight, January 25, at 7:00 P.M. ET. The Rangers, who are also a Division Rival, currently sit tied with the Flyers, ten points below the Penguins.
