The Pittsburgh Penguins managed to defeat a Division Leader Wednesday night, grabbing the win against the Calgary Flames in regular time. The Penguins also had a Power Play goal; a task that has been troubling the team for the last several games. With about three months left on the season, the Penguins currently have the highest amount of points for an Eastern Conference team that isn’t leading their Division.
Less than four minutes into the game, Sidney Crosby put the Penguins up on the board after he skated through two defenders and got the puck past the goalie. Almost half way through the second period, the Flames had their first, and only, goal during a Power Play. However, the score didn’t remain tied for long; only about a minute later, Bill Guerin scored off a Power Play for the Penguins. With less than two minutes in the game, Tyler Kennedy put the Flames away with a third goal.
Marc Andre Fleury, who has been having a little trouble lately, really stepped it up against Calgary; 37 saves and only one allowed goal. Fleury managed to bump up his Save Percentage a little, making it 90.7%.
The Penguins play again Tonight, January 14, against the Edmonton Oilers. The puck will drop at 9:30 P.M. ET. The Penguins are now 2-1 on their Road Trip.
