Steelers Tighten AFC Wild Card Race
The Pittsburgh Steelers refuse to go down without a fight, still battling for the AFC Wild Card. With the Cincinnati Bengal’s win on Sunday, both the Ravens and Steelers are unable to win the division; they each have an 8-7 record. It will be a tight race, coming down the outcomes from the final week. According to the Steelers official site, there are three possible situations in which the Steelers can make the playoffs.
1) PIT win + HOU loss or tie + NYJ loss or tie
2) PIT win + HOU loss or tie + BAL loss or tie
3) PIT win + NYJ loss or tie + BAL loss or tie + DEN loss or tie
Sunday afternoon, Ben Roethlisberger threw for 259 yards, getting a single Touchdown and Interception. Jeff Reed’s final Field Goal gave the Steelers their three point lead for the win, but it was the work of the Steelers defense in the final minutes that really helped them win the game. The defense forced a fumble in the final two and a half minutes, allowing Pittsburgh to maintain possession the rest of the game.
The Steelers final Regular Season Game will be against the Miami Dolphins next Sunday, January 3, at 1:00 P.M. CT. The Steelers need a win for any chance at catching the Wild Card.
