12-3 is an amazing record! The Pittsburgh Penguins now lead the entire NHL in overall points with 24, and a five point lead in their division. The Penguins have had some close calls this season, already having four Shoot Outs, but winning all of them. Not to mention their several third period comebacks. Despite still missing Evgeni Malkin, the teams leading playmaker, the Penguins still pulled out a 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
Anaheim put in an early goal to start this game off, but early in the second period, Michael Rupp tied it up. Half way through the second period, Kris Letang gave Pittsburgh the lead with a wrist shot through a crowd of players. However, before the period ended, Anaheim tied it again.
Almost eight minutes into the third period, Alex Goligoski made it a 3-2 game with his shot from the point. Not even 20 seconds later, the Ducks tied it up, once again. 18 shots were taken in the third period, between both teams, but in the end, Pittsburgh took the victory with a goal from Pascal Dupuis in the ninth minute.
Marc Andre Fleury added another win to his record, now tied for first in the NHL in regards to wins attributed to a goalie. However, his competition, Craig Anderson from the Colorado Avalanche, has played three more games than Fleury, giving him an advantage. Fleury made 26 saves against the Ducks, giving up one goal each period.
The Penguins go up against another California team, the Los Angeles Kings, this Thursday, November 5, at 10:30 P.M.
