The Pittsburgh Penguins are now on a four game winning streak after defeating the Carolina Hurricanes, only losing one game so far. The Penguins are currently tied with the New York Rangers in overall points, but the Rangers lead just slightly due to more goals. Luckily, it is still very early in the season.

Pittsburgh held the lead for the majority of the game, scoring their first goal in the first period.  After some great saves by Marc Andre Fleury and the Pittsburgh defense, Evgeni Malkin made a long pass to Michael Rupp who made a quick move and got it past the Carolina goalie.  Early in the second period, Evgeni Malkin put a goal in of his own off a short pass from Pascal Dupuis.

The third period was where the Hurricanes made a comeback.  Two goals in the first half of the third period sent the game into Over Time.  After a scoreless Over Time, the Penguins had their second shootout of the season.  Chris Kunitz had the winning goal in the six round Shoot Out.

Fleury was on fire in the goal, as usual, making 27 saves during the game, in addition to the five he had during the Shoot Out.  Fleury has had 155 saves throughout his six games.  The Penguins only loss came from a day that Fleury was not in the net.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will try to keep their streak alive as they battle the Tampa Bay Lightning this Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 P.M.  The Lightning are currently 2-3.
