Pittsburgh Steelers Fall Just Short to Cincinnati Bengals
Despite having a great start, the Pittsburgh Steelers faltered towards the end and gave up a close game to the Cincinnati Bengals. So far, this hasn’t been the same team of Super Bowl Champs we saw last season, but hopefully it’s just a rough start. At least Pittsburgh has been able to hold each loss to a three-point difference. Even last year, the team put up four losses during the season, all more than a three-point loss.
Jeff Reed started off the scoring for Pittsburgh with a 19 yard Field Goal. After getting the ball back, Ben Roethlisberger completed a 27 yard pass to Willie Parker to add a Touchdown to the score in the final minutes of the first quarter. The second quarter went pretty well with Reed adding another three points to the Steeler’s score, giving them a 13-0 lead over the Bengals. The Bengals managed to put up a Field Goal before half time.
Early in the third quarter, Roethlisberger attempted a pass to Santonio Holmes which was intercepted and ran back for a Bengals Touchdown. The Bengals went for two points, but were unsuccessful. However, in the final minutes of the third quarter, the Steelers made another Touchdown off a one yard run by Roethlisberger, making the score 20-9. It all looked good for the Steelers until the fourth quarter when the Bengals really stepped up their game and put up two Touchdowns, one being in the final seconds of play, giving them the ending lead over Pittsburgh.
The Steelers record currently sits at 1-2. Luckily, the Steelers will return back home next week to face the San Diego Chargers at 8:20 ET.
