At least 10 New Owners will be joining the Pittsburgh Steelers in the next day or two. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, some of the New Minority Owners will include "the Paul family of Pittsburgh, James Haslam III of Knoxville, Tenn.,
Hollywood producer Thomas Tull, Steelers Hall of Fame receiver John
Stallworth, Bruce V. Rauner of Chicago and the Varischetti family of
Brockway, Pa."
The Pittsburgh Steelers were previously owned by the five sons of Art Rooney, Sr., who founded the fifth oldest franchise in the NFL, and the McGinley family of Pittsburgh. In this new restructuring, the following changes are expected to occur:
-Pat Rooney will sell all but 3% of his shares
-Tim Rooney is expected to sell his entire 16% of shares
-John and Art Rooney, Jr. will each keep about half of their 16% ownership
-The McGinley family will sell about half of their 20% ownership
-Art Rooney Sr.'s son Dan, and his son Art Rooney II, will continue to run the franchise
-The rest of the ownership will be distributed amongst the new minority owners
This new change to the Steelers should not really affect the team itself, so expect to see the same winning team from last year!
