Pittsburgh Penguins Take Loss in Game 1 of Stanley Cup
The 2009 Stanley Cup has begun! Unfortunately, the Pittsburgh Penguins took a 3-1 loss against the Detroit Red Wings. Both of these teams are going to put up a great battle during these next two weeks. It should be a great series.
The Red Wings put the first goal in about half way through the first period. In the final minutes of the first period, Ruslan Fedotenko tied up the game. It wasn't until the final minute of the second period when Detroit took the lead again. About three minutes into the third period, the Red Wings added another, ending the game at 3-1.
Marc-Andre Fleury played a tough first game against the Red Wings. Overall, he made 27 saves. The Penguins offense took 32 shots on the Red Wings goalie.
The Pittsburgh Penguins will play the Detroit Red Wings in Game 2 this Sunday, May 31 at 8:00 Eastern Time. This game will also take place in Detroit, but then the following two games will be in Pittsburgh.
